Leading The Way With The Next Generation

Most people do not have access to financial guidance at the stage of life when it could make the most difference. Therefore, Joslyn G Ewart, CFP® and I recently accepted an opportunity to speak with seniors and graduate students from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance. We were joined by Ryan Hall, Senior Director, Artist Services, of Fame House (A Division of UMG). It was a great experience engaging with a group of students who are preparing to enter the workforce and are beginning to think more seriously about their financial futures.
Our conversation covered a wide range of topics, from the fundamentals of financial planning to how individuals can align their finances with their values and long-term goals. But more than anything, the discussion centered on decision-making, how to think long-term, how to prioritize competing goals, and how to build a strong financial foundation early in life.
What stood out to me was the level of curiosity and engagement among the students. They asked thoughtful questions about everything from managing student debt to investing for the first time, to navigating career decisions in an uncertain environment. It was a reminder that financial planning is most impactful when introduced early on.
Experiences like this also reinforce something that’s core to Entrust Financial as a firm—our commitment to B Corp Certification. Choosing to become B Corp Certified almost ten years ago affirmed that our focus would be concentrated not only on delivering strong outcomes for clients, but also on creating a broader positive impact through education, transparency, and strategic community engagement.
Speaking with students is a perfect example of that mission in action. It’s not about selling a product. It’s about equipping people with understanding, helping them ask better questions, and giving them the confidence to make informed decisions, regardless of where they are on life’s journey.
Partnering with professionals like Ryan, who bring a different industry perspective, added depth to the conversations. Together, we were able to highlight how financial decision-making complements career growth, personal branding, and the evolving nature of work.
We are grateful to the team at Boyer College of Music and Dance, Temple University, for the opportunity and to the students for their participation. Engaging with the next generation is always meaningful, and we’re proud to continue supporting and educating as part of our broader firm commitment to positive community impact.
